Serbia receives official flag for EXPO 2027, kicking off global invitation process

Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy Miloš Vučević officially received the flag for the international EXPO 2027 during a ceremony at the Sava Center. The flag is traditionally awarded to the host country following the General Assembly of the Bureau’s adoption of the Recognition Dossier, which outlines the guidelines for organizing and executing the exhibition.

This flag not only symbolizes the privilege of hosting the EXPO but also marks the official start of Serbia’s invitation process to all countries for their participation in the event.

As per the procedure, the President of the Republic will send formal invitations to the highest leaders of all nations around the world to take part in EXPO 2027 in Belgrade.

The flag, a key symbol of Serbia’s hosting rights, was presented to the Serbian delegation on November 26 in Paris.

EXPO 2027, a specialized international exhibition, will take place in Belgrade from May 15 to August 15, 2027, under the theme “Play for Humanity.”

In the Surčin area, where the EXPO will be held, infrastructure developments are underway. These include the construction of a pavilion, 1,500 housing units for participants, a National Stadium with a seating capacity of 52,000 (meeting international UEFA standards) and a modern Aquatic Center with 4,000 seats designed for water sports.

Additionally, a new 18-kilometer railway line connecting Zemun Polje, Nikola Tesla Airport and the EXPO site is under construction, designed to support speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.

The EXPO site will also be connected to the rest of Belgrade through the Miloš Veliki highway, and essential infrastructure such as sewage, water, and heating systems are being developed for the area.
