Serbia signs 20 billion dinars loan agreements for Ruma-Šabac-Loznica road project

On December 27, 2024, the Serbian government signed long-term investment loan agreements with Intesa and Unicredit banks to finance the construction of the Ruma – Šabac – Loznica road. The total debt amounts to 20 billion dinars (approximately 170.6 million euros), with 12 billion dinars allocated through the Inteza contract and 8 billion dinars through the Unikredit contract. Both loans are agreed to be in dinars, as reported by eKapija.

During the same session, the government approved proposals for laws regulating borrowing from these two banks. As previously reported, a commercial contract for the design and construction of the Ruma – Šabac highway and the Šabac – Loznica expressway was signed in 2019 with the Azerbaijani company Azvirt.

The total length of the road section is 77 kilometers, with 22 kilometers designated for the Ruma-Šabac highway and 55 kilometers for the Šabac-Loznica expressway.
