Serbia aims to unlock new economic opportunities at Chinese Import Fair

At this year’s Chinese Import Fair in Shanghai, Serbia’s Minister of Economy, Adrijana Mesarović, emphasized the importance of participating in such international events for promoting Serbian products, particularly in the food sector. She highlighted that these fairs are key for opening new doors and boosting the country’s economic activity.

“Our presence at such fairs is absolutely crucial, and each time we participate, we manage to open new opportunities for Serbia’s economic engagement. What’s important is that the Serbian economy takes full advantage of the Free Trade Agreement, ensuring that we open as many doors as possible in this vast market, which represents a tremendous potential for our economy,” Mesarović stated.

She also stressed the significance of Serbia’s ability to export over 10,000 products to China under a duty-free regime, noting that this presents a substantial opportunity for the country’s economic growth.

“Chinese businesses send semi-finished products and raw materials to Serbia, where they can manufacture products that will then be marketed to all the markets with which Serbia has agreements, representing a combined population of 2.8 billion people. Therefore, Serbia’s participation in both the national and economic pavilions at this fair is extremely valuable, and we will continue to attend such major events, recognizing their enormous potential for our economy,” Mesarović said.

The Minister also reflected on her recent visit to Xiamen in September, where she represented Serbia at the China International Investment and Trade Fair (CIFIT), showcasing Serbian companies. She reiterated that every visit to China is crucial for the ongoing development of Serbia’s economy.

Mesarović concluded by stressing the importance of maintaining and expanding Serbia’s presence at key international trade events, as these platforms offer invaluable opportunities for economic growth and global market integration.
