The Ministry of Mining and Energy has suspended a tender aimed at selecting companies for demining areas in Serbia where solar power plants are planned. The tender, which involved cleaning suspicious areas from explosive remnants of war (ERW), was halted due to the need for project revisions. The affected locations include BoĆĄnjace (Lebane municipality) and Srpska kuÄa (Bujanovac municipality).
The reason for the suspension was a report from the demining center, which re-inspected the Srpska kuÄa site. It was found that significant changes had occurred in the terrain due to heavy rainfall, including the formation of a lake in a previously dry area. The lake, which spans around 2,800 square meters and has depths of 2 to 4 meters, is expected to increase in size due to upcoming weather conditions. This new information necessitated adjustments to the original project plan to ensure the safety and efficiency of the demining efforts.
The tender, valued at 982 million dinars, was divided into two parts. The first part involved the BoĆĄnjace location (634 million dinars), while the second part covered the Srpska kuÄa location (348 million dinars). The project to build self-balancing solar power plants will be executed by the Hyundai Engineering and UGT Renewables consortium, with a target of generating one gigawatt of power through solar energy. The solar plants will be built across several municipalities, including Negotin, ZajeÄar, OdĆŸaci, Lebane, Leskovac and Bujanovac.
