The Serbian government adopted amendments to two key laws in the fields of air, rail and water transport during its session, aligning the country’s legislation with European Union standards.
The proposed amendments to the Aviation Law clarify the conditions under which exceptions can be made to the general ban on flying aircraft below a certain altitude over densely populated areas, including cities, towns, industrial sites or crowds at outdoor events. The amendments aim to ensure that aviation regulations are more precise and adaptable to specific operational needs.
Additionally, the revised laws provide a legal framework for the introduction of regulations setting minimum altitudes and conditions under which the Directorate of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Serbia can grant flight approvals.
The changes also define three categories of operations for unmanned aerial systems (drones), establishing the basic conditions under which these operations can be conducted. The amendments also address the area of safety orders and exceptions, aiming to improve the regulatory oversight of drone use and enhance air traffic safety.
These amendments are part of Serbia’s ongoing efforts to harmonize its transport laws with EU regulations, fostering greater integration with European standards and improving safety and efficiency in air, rail, and water transportation systems.
