Serbian Government approves salary increases for police Ooficers with new regulation amendments

On Thursday, March 12, the Serbian Government adopted amendments to the Regulation on the Salaries of Police Officers, introducing salary increases for employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs within the first, second, and third salary groups. These groups encompass jobs that require secondary education, and the salary increase will take effect starting with the March paycheck.

The Law on Police classifies police officer positions by salary groups and salary grades. Salary groups represent the position of a job within the organizational structure, while salary grades indicate the specific position within a salary group.

Under the new amendments, the basic salary coefficients for employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the first three salary groups will increase for all salary grades.

For example, the coefficients in the first salary grade of the first salary group, which currently range from 0.751 to 0.754, will increase to a range of 0.845 to 0.848 under the new regulation. Additionally, the coefficient for the sixth salary grade in the first salary group will now be set at 1.121, a grade which did not previously exist.

The new regulation also introduces a third salary grade within the second salary group, as well as the tenth and eleventh salary grades in the third salary group, which were absent under the previous regulation.
