Serbian Minister encourages companies to apply for EU ICT funds

Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society Jasna Matic said on Friday that Serbian companies can apply for funds from the EU’s Programme for policy support to information and communications technology (ICT PSP), whose total budget stands at €15 million.

Opening the Info-Day on ICT PSP at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Matic said that on 1 March, the fifth invitation was opened for Serbian companies to compete in this programme.

She explained that the EU is a framework in which we have to find our place, and our sector is a good example of how Serbia can successfully compete in Europe and what the benefits of EU accession are.

The Minister recalled that Serbia became a member of this programme by signing the Memorandum of Understanding with the EU in 2009 and added that last year four projects were approved for seven Serbian companies.

This year Serbia has the opportunity to make a decisive step towards the EU membership, which brought stability and prosperity to all countries and that will certainly be the case with us as well, Matic said.

ICT PSP is one of the three special programs of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) which runs from 2007 to 2013 and whose total budget is €728 million.

The programme is aimed at strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises, and all legal persons can participate, either as coordinators of projects or as partners.
