Serbian President unveils housing program to help young people purchase apartments

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that he will collaborate with the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) to develop guarantee schemes and programs with commercial banks to address the challenges young people face in purchasing apartments.

“Our goal is to ensure a maximum participation rate of three to five percent, with monthly installments not exceeding 200 euros for average apartments in Serbia. We are currently working on this scheme to see how we can subsidize apartment purchases,” he stated in his address to the public.

Vučić also emphasized that the “tricks” related to apartment allocations for security force members, where apartments were transferred to family members and later rented out, would no longer be tolerated. “We will carefully monitor and check any changes in property status or transfers to close relatives. We want to keep young people in Serbia and provide them with the best opportunities. We are creating a program that no other country in the region has, enabling them to most easily resolve their housing issues,” he said.
