In Serbia, the year-on-year inflation rate for August stood at 4.3 percent, according to the Republic Institute of Statistics (RZS).
The report highlights that, on average, consumer prices for personal consumption products and services increased by 0.4 percent in August compared to the previous month. When comparing August 2024 to December 2023, the average increase in consumer prices was 3.1 percent.
Analyzing the main categories of products and services, notable price increases in August were observed in several areas:
- Alcoholic Beverages and tobacco: Up by 1.7 percent
- Recreation and culture: Up by 1.3 percent
- Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Up by 0.9 percent
- Restaurant services and hotels: Up by 0.8 percent
- Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels: Up by 0.7 percent
- Health: Up by 0.5 percent
- Household equipment and maintenance: Up by 0.4 percent
Conversely, some categories saw a decrease in prices:
- Transport: Down by 1.6 percent
- Clothing and footwear: Down by 0.4 percent
- Communications: Down by 0.1 percent
