Serbia’s workforce grows by 0.4% in 2024, with increase in entrepreneurs and self-employed

At the end of 2024, Serbia had 2,368,948 employees, an increase of 8,360 people, or 0.4%, compared to the previous year, according to the Republic Statistical Office.

Of the total number of employees, 1,900,430 were employed in legal entities, marking a 0.3% increase from the previous year. This group includes 614,148 public sector employees, which is a 0.3% rise compared to 2023, as reported by the Beta agency.

Meanwhile, 419,106 were entrepreneurs or self-employed individuals, representing a 1.5% increase over 2023.

However, the number of registered individual farmers in 2024 dropped by 7.9%, with 49,412 farmers reported, which is a decrease from the previous year.
