The Slovenian company for the production of glass packaging “Staklara Hrastnik”, through its owner GlobalGlass from Switzerland, takes over the glass factory SFS Paraćin.
As stated in the company’s announcement, the glass factories will become sister companies and will significantly contribute to the realization of the group’s strategic plans.
“Staklara Hrastnik” is one of the leading European providers of special packaging glass.
By investing in the glass factory SFS Paraćin, which before the takeover was in bankruptcy and the subject of the national program for the revitalization of the glass industry in Serbia, the GlobalGlass group will increase production capacity – immediately by up to 300 tons of glass per day and product range.
The general director of Hrastnik Glassworks Peter Čas said that the main part of the production in Serbia will remain tied to the standard quality of glass for the food industry, the needs of the Serbian market and deliveries to the markets of Southeast Europe, where they notice a lack of supply.
– Part of the assortment will be moved from Slovenia to the factory in Paračin, and in this way we intend to raise the level of quality, added value and profitability of the Serbian factory. In the meantime, most of Hrastnik Glass’ exports will continue to be directed to the strategic markets of Western Europe and glass of premium and super-premium quality – emphasized Chas.
The takeover of the glass factory SFS Paraćin is still subject to the usual deferred conditions, including the consent of the competent institutions for the protection of competition. The procedures should be completed by the end of the first quarter of next year, Vesti reports.
