Airports of Serbia have submitted requests to the Ministry of Environmental Protection for the phased reconstruction of Ponikva Airport and the extension of platform A at Morava Airport. As stated in the environmental impact assessment study for the phased reconstruction project of Ponikva Airport, the reconstruction will be carried out in five phases.
The first and second phases include the rehabilitation of the runway, the taxiway turns necessary for turning the Airbus A320neo aircraft, the base runway, the drainage system and cable sewers. The third phase includes the expansion of the turnpike on the threshold of runway 28, with the aim, as stated, of creating the possibility to turn the critical Boeing 757 aircraft.
The subject of the fourth phase of the project is the construction of a new taxiway and platform, and the fifth phase will involve the reconstruction of the protective belt at the end of the runway.
The study was prepared by the company ECOlogica URBO doo from Kragujevac. As part of the project to expand the existing platform at Morava Airport, the reconstruction and extension of the existing platform for aircraft parking is planned.
The new platform, with its constructive and operational characteristics, enables the reception of the largest aircraft up to the code letter E, while establishing traffic safety and an uninterrupted process of servicing aircraft, passengers and goods – the document says.
The request for a decision on the need to assess the impact of the Project Expansion of Platform A at Morava Airport was made by the company NEO aerodromes engineering doo from Belgrade.
