Sudan to participate in EXPO 2027 Belgrade, highlighting sports and music

Sudan has officially confirmed its participation in the Specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade, with the theme “Play for Humanity: Sports and Music for All”, according to the EXPO 2027 organization.

Dušan Borovčanin, Director of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, expressed excitement about Sudan’s participation, noting that the northern part of Africa will be represented in the most prominent way at the event. “Sudan will bring its unique Arab-African cultural spirit to EXPO 2027, and we are excited to see their perspective on play, music, and sports,” he said.

Sudan, a North African country on the Red Sea coast and the third-largest in Africa, first appeared at international exhibitions at EXPO 1958 in Brussels. Since then, it has regularly participated in world and specialized expos.

A member of the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) since 2008, Sudan will also participate in EXPO 2025 in Osaka. Sudan gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1956, the same year it established official diplomatic relations with Serbia (then Yugoslavia).

Relations between Serbia and Sudan have been traditionally good and friendly, with agreements on trade and economic cooperation (1961) and air traffic (1964).

EXPO 2027 Belgrade, the first international exhibition in the Western Balkans, will take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027. It will feature over 120 countries, and the event is expected to attract more than four million visitors to the Serbian capital during its 93-day duration, as reported by Tanjug.
