The groundbreaking ceremony for the new production facility of the German company Schott Pharma was officially held on Wednesday in Jagodina, in the presence of company representatives, the German ambassador, and state and local officials.
The company announced the expansion of its global production network and the investment of a double-digit million amount in euros in the new production location in the Pomoravlje District, according to the statement.
The new location in central Serbia is intended for the production of ampoules suitable for storing injectable drugs such as pain relievers, anti-inflammatory analgesics, and anesthetics. The start of preparatory work for ampoule production is planned for 2024, and depending on market demand, the production of other product groups may also be possible.
“With this move, we strengthen our presence in Southeastern Europe and increase production flexibility to meet the needs of our clients in the region,” said Andreas Reisse, CEO of Schott Pharma.
“We want to fill more than 130 positions for the start of production, and job interviews have been ongoing since the beginning of October. We are currently filling the remaining vacant positions in administration, sales, and production. We plan to hire a total of 350 people in the next few years,” said Denis Nikitin, the director of the Schott Pharma factory in Jagodina. He added that all interested individuals can apply to Schott Pharma through relevant job portals.
Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Tomislav Momirović emphasized that a serious pharmaceutical company like Schott Pharma has started the construction of a new factory that will open 350 job positions.
“In Serbia, more than 1,000 German companies operate, employing over 76,000 workers, and this country is in the first place in terms of the value of investments, accounting for 12.8% of the total value of foreign direct investments in Serbia,” stated Momirović.
