In March 2024, Serbia saw a notable increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays compared to March 2023. The number of tourist arrivals surged by 11.7 percent, while overnight stays rose by ten percent. Among the prominent destinations, Vrnjačka Banja, Zlatibor, Kopaonik and Belgrade stood out with significant numbers of overnight stays.
Vrnjačka Banja recorded the highest number of overnight stays among spa towns, with 44,140 stays in March, followed by Sokobanja with 30,510 stays, according to data from the Republic Statistical Office (RSO).
Among mountain resorts, Zlatibor registered the highest number of overnight stays with 81,359, followed by Kopaonik with 66,788.
In urban centers, Belgrade led with 281,287 tourist overnight stays in March, followed by Novi Sad with 43,375, and Niš with 29,274.
The data for March 2024 indicates a 10.2 percent increase in overnight stays by domestic tourists compared to March 2023, while overnight stays by foreign tourists rose by 9.7 percent.
In terms of overnight stays by foreign tourists based on their country of origin, visitors from the Russian Federation topped the list with 49,869 stays, followed by tourists from Turkey with 43,769 stays.
