Serbia and Kazakhstan explore economic collaboration and EXPO 2027

Marko Čadež, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS), held discussions in New York with Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister, Murat Nurtleu, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The talks focused on enhancing economic cooperation, support for the organization of EXPO 2027, investment opportunities, joint ventures and export activities.

“We discussed the upcoming EXPO 2027, especially since a smaller expo was recently held in Astana. We also addressed the introduction of our pharmaceuticals and products into the Kazakh market, where we will receive assistance with drug registration, which is essential for our companies’ operations,” Čadež explained.

He highlighted that they also covered plans for the Trans-Caspian Corridor, which is crucial for Serbia and its logistics and transport sectors, as well as collaboration in the production of baby food, as stated by PKS.

He reminded attendees that earlier this month, a meeting took place at PKS with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Trade, marking a continuation of their collaboration. The Serbian Chamber of Commerce is set to organize a significant business forum during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Serbia, expected by the end of this year. Čadež also met with Rima al Hashimi, the UAE Minister of International Cooperation, to discuss support for the EXPO.

“Ms. al Hashimi was the main director for the EXPO in Dubai and is prepared to assist us in organizing our event. Their delegation is currently in Belgrade, and discussions are ongoing about how they can support us,” Čadež noted.

He emphasized that the PKS delegation is actively engaging with businesses to effectively represent the interests of the economy. He expressed gratitude to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Foreign Minister Marko Đurić for the opportunity to participate and advocate for economic interests on a broader stage.

“It is rare for a business delegation from one country to be part of a state delegation and participate in meetings at the United Nations during the General Assembly. We are thankful to President Vučić and Minister Đurić for enabling us to utilize the political framework of good relations with various countries. Our role is to translate this framework into strong economic partnerships, new business ventures, and agreements,” Čadež concluded.
